Kuna is an Idaho community feeling intense development pressure as the Treasure Valley grows. In contrast to the conventional subdivisions that are being built, Aldeia at Water's Edge is a true mixed-use community. It includes a mixed-use neighborhood center with shops, offices, and condominiums above, plus townhouses, cottages, and single family homes. Most of the homes include alley access for garages. Also planned for the community is a church that will be the focal point of the main entry, and a recreation center. The pond is planned to be a functional part of Kuna's irrigation and stormwater system. The 68 acre development includes "green streets" stormwater strategies. All homes will meet Energy Star standards. Aldeia at Water's Edge received an Idaho Smart Growth "Grow Smart" award in 2005 and is a participant in the US Green Building Council's LEED for Neighborhood Development pilot program, targeting a Platinum Certification.
