The Downtown Caldwell Plan and Revitalization Strategy was a collaborative effort involving the Mayor of Caldwell, city staff, and a citizen committee. McKibben + Cooper Architects directed the design effort with these groups and a large consultant team. The plan revolves around a project solicited of the US Army Corps of Engineers to uncover Indian Creek and bring it back to ecological health. The creek environment is designed as a civic armature for public and private development and a signature element for the city. Public space and community pathways extend through the city, along the creek and perpendicular to it in order to connect schools, parks, and neighborhoods. The project included ecological green street standards and green building guidelines. This project won a Grow Smart Award for the City of Caldwell in 2005.
