Pioneer Corridor Boise, Idaho

In 2001, McKibben + Cooper associated with Walker Macy Landscape Architects, Planmakers, and artist Norie Sato in a competition held by Capitol City Development Corporation to propose a new urban design for the historic corridor linking downtown Boise with the Boise River. Our scheme emphasized dense mixed-use neighborhoods with uses arranged to keep the corridor lively and safe. The path features a realistically scaled urban corridor punctuated by major spaces at the river, the center of the River/Myrtle neighborhood, and in front of the new Convention Center. A plan to incorporate public art and historic interpretive sites along the corridor was included.
